Windows Server Catalog FAQWhat is the Windows Server Catalog?
The Windows Server Catalog contains products that have been tested, usually by the manufacturer, to meet a Microsoft defined test
criteria on a Windows Server operating system. The catalog enables users to search for and verify the status of tested server products.
How can I get my product listed in the Windows Server Catalog?
All products in the Windows Server Catalog are tested for compatibility with a Windows Server operating system.
Hardware products must pass logo qualification testing using the Windows Logo Kit (WLK) and test results must be uploaded to
the Winqual Web site. Hardware products that are logo qualified through Winqual for a server
operating system are listed in the catalog. For more information on hardware testing please visit
Windows Hardware Developer Central. For questions regarding hardware
submissions on the Winqual Web site, contact winqual@microsoft.com.
Software products must pass logo qualification testing by an Authorized Testing Vendor.
For Information on Windows Server 2008 R2 testing, please visit the ISV Application Readiness and Certification site.
For Windows Server 2003, testing must be performed by VeriTest; for more information please visit their
site. Products that pass Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 R2 testing and are submitted through the Winqual Web site will be listed in the catalog.
How does application certification relate to upgrading my server environment?
The Windows Server Catalog lists applications that have been tested on Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
Testing is not conducted for upgrade scenarios, such as upgrading a Windows Server 2003 environment to Windows Server 2008. This is also
referred to as an in-place upgrade. It is Microsoft's recommendation to check the software manufacturer's website for prescriptive guidance
and technical support details prior to upgrading the operating system.
